I’m trying to gain a better understanding of the Level 7 bar routine:
First, if DD doesn’t quite make her cast to handstand at first on low bar, but then she makes it on the high bar, does that still count?
Second, she will probably do two giants on high bar (clear hip to 45 on low). I’ve...
In xcel gold, do all my casts have to be above horizontal on bars or can just one. I have to bend my arms to cast high enough and would like to only do that once and then have small straight arm casts.
My daughter is level 4 in the middle of her season and for some reason we are noticing her kip casts are getting worse, not better. Her casts were horizontal almost right after she got her kip about 6 months ago and have literally have been getting further and further away from horizontal over...
Ok it seems like I have read different things on here- is there a deduction in current Level 6 bars for casts that are at 45 degrees above horizontal or above but are not to handstand or within 10 degrees of handstand? I know they need one at at least 45 degrees above horizontal to meet the...
I had thought all cast-to-handstands were out of a kip.
Talking with DD, she mentioned S is doing a kip to casthandstand.
Then tells me about her casthandstand. I asked about the kip - nope, not yet. Just a cast up into a handstand.
Obviously this is a progression, get the casthandstand, then...
Is there an advantage to kipping, and casting with the legs together, vs. straddle?
It look pretty to straddle cast HS, but is it harder to pike HS?
What is more desirable?
My youngest dd was doing bars during her last gym lesson and she had to do some casts (I think that is what they are called), dd is having trouble with them, she has been told not to lift her bottom while doing the cast but to lift her back instead. Dd says she tried to do the correction but...
I took 5 weeks off gym for maternity leave. Now I'm back, and I'm not sure what they did while I was gone. Their casts were never great but most of them could be easily spotted to handstand. Now they are loose and struggling. The biggest problem I see is not leaning far enough forward over the...
I posted in MAG that DS has a stress fracture and is now in a boot for at least a few weeks. He is starting off with 2.5 weeks in it, then we go back for new x-rays.
The first 2 days in the boot weren't bad. But... that is probably because he was also sick with a fever of around 101.
He is...
I am training level 5 and I cannot seem to get my cast (out of front hip or kip) hollow. My coaches keep telling me to cast hollow, and everyone else has casts to 120 degrees, but I cannot seem to get hollow. Are there any drils anyone knows that I can do at home or any tips for casting hollow...
My level 1 gymnasts have very archy backs in casts. I know this is partially due to confidence (i.e. they don't want to get too far from the bar) and also due to strength. We've been doing conditioning and of course casting and spotting holds, and will continue to do so. But I was wondering if...
Or rather, I hate having to teach them.
It's so counterproductive to teach a cast in a hollow shape to beginners! If you want an easy cast handstand, stick your head out and drive your heels, and it will go right up. Granted, this should be a tight arch, not a loose one, but an arch...
i used to be able to cast really high, but now i can't. some time in 2008, (summer?) i fell while doing a cast hanstand, but i don't think thats why. also, free hip circles. does anybody have any tips on how i can get higher after my free hip?
