This is the second thread I’ve started about my DD’s elbow. I’m planning to read my DD the encouraging messages and well wishes from the other thread tonight. (Thanks :))
I’m not planning to share this second thread with her.
First I want to make sure she’s happy and healthy but I’m also...
Yesterday I was asking opinions about my DD’s shoot through. (Thanks everyone for all the feedback). Right now it’s the last thing on my mind.
Today my DD (7 years old) fractured her humerus above the elbow (supracondylar) at the gym (she’s still at the ER with my DW.) The doctor aligned the...
Hi! My 12 year old had surgery for OCD (Osteochondritis Dissecans) in her elbow a month ago. They removed the loose fragments, debridement, and the bone was allowed to bleed out (no microfracturing necessary bc the lesion was deep enough to bleed). The plan is for my daughter to go back to gym...
Just wondering if anyone has previous experience with recovering from this type of fracture for their gymnast and getting back to full use of the arm. DD was training level 8, so I guess "full use" would include training typical level 8 skills. And whether or not surgery was done.
So after a very long summer and talking to 4 different doctors, DD has been diagnosed with pretty bad elbow OCD. Getting surgery in several weeks for it, but best case scenario she will only miss this season. Even worse, the prognosis is bad enough that the doctor has told us she may never be...
I'm looking for success stories of returning to gymnastics after OCD in the elbow especially without surgery. There isn't a lot on the Internet about it.
My daughter is a L7 and she just turned 11. She was diagnosed with OCD in March, we are now on month 4 of no activity on that arm. She...
Hi my daughter is in level IL 9 and has been training super hard for her first international gym comp. The aloha gymfest Hawaii!! On Xmas day she dislocated her elbow no structural fracture but a slither of bone pulled off but they are not worried ... I have prepared her for the fact she can't...
I have been having pain in at least 1 elbow since the summer, and went to the Dr and got diagnosed with a sprain. After resting it and it not getting much better, I went to the Dr again a couple weeks ago and was told I have tendinitis in both elbows.
They casted my worse one (right) to force...
Hi
Just wandered if anyone had any similar experiences and could give any advice. My daughter broke her medial epicondyl in May and had surgery on her elbow. She was heartbroken as she wasn't allowed to do sport at school or go to dance as well as missing her beloved gymnastics. In August she...
My daughter dislocated both elbows and had surgery with 3 pins in each elbow. We have not been given the go ahead to get back into gymnastics she is only conditioning and doing skills that do not require arms. Just wondering what our odds are getting back in and how hard mentally/physically it...
Our HC just told my girls to buy pads for their heels to protect them when learning release moves on the bars. I can't find any specific to gymnasts but saw on old posts that some use hockey elbow pads or volleyball knee pads? Seems like the volleyball ones would be softer but do they need the...
I posted about 2 years ago this October that I fractured my right elbow on vault and that apparatus striked again! I was doing blocking drills on the trampoline of all things and my elbow dislocated. Yep, hurt again! It popped out and thankfully popped back in by itself later, but has some...
9 year old dd was doing front tucks over a barrel last night. She said she fell and caught herself placing her hands on floor. She said her inner elbow hurts. She went on to do press handstands on the beam last night. She is complaining of more pain this morning and does not want to bear weight...
Does anyone have experience with their gymnast having surgery to repair torn cartilage in their elbow? If so, what was the recovery time? My DD just got the news that she should consider surgery (if she doesn't, the pain will just continue to get worse but it's not a life or death thing) and...
I thought I remembered reading something about this a month or two ago, but a search found nothing, so I thought I would ask.
I have a Level 3 athlete training for competition beginning at the end of this month. She took some time off this summer and so was the last one on her team to get her...
Well it's been almost 6 months from DD's microfracture surgery and she's doing great! Started slowing training (back using arms) about a month and half ago. She's gotten most of her upper body strength back. Her skills are coming back faster than I thought they would. She's a freshman this...
Hello, Everyone. My daughter dislocated her elbow earlier this week- it was a posterior (to the back side of the elbow) dislocation of both the radius and ulna. (the forearm bones) It was reduced/relocated in the ER a few hours later. Her orthopedic visit is today.
Do any of you have an...
Does anybody know anything about them? I have bone spurs in my ankle but they don't hurt or make my bones Pop. The one in my elbow just won't get better, it's been 2 weeks of pt and no using my elbow and it feels like it's getting worse instead of better
For about 2 weeks now I had some clicking in my elbow when I tumble. You can't here it but I can't feel it. And I hurts. I'm going to get it check out tomorrow, but to ease my mind does anyone know what this May be
Well, after seeing a GP, a sports physician, and x ray and an MRI we have finally figured out why my elbow is sore and causing me grief. What has happened is I had a grade 2 tear of my UCL (Ulna collateral ligament) and it isn't healing at the moment. I have also severely strained my pronator...
