Hi, I understand one can be an event specialist starting at L8 (can before as well, but not really done at L6/L7). Assuming one is not trying to get a college scholarship what are the pros and cons of this? I think it happens anyway relatively frequently as one gets to the higher levels? A...
Can someone explain how gymnast can compete as an IES? I am curious because DD has block and won’t vault so wonder if this would allow her to qualify for states even if she only competes 3 events for the rest of the season. She is in Xcel.
Is there a path to college gymnastics for gymnasts who become even specialists at level 9? I think I read that you can qualify to Regionals as an event specialist but not to Easterns or Westerns or Nationals. How do you get a collegiate caches attention of you can't advance beyond Regionals?
Hi there,
My DD is coming back from a broken foot and will compete bars this weekend and the following weekend (final meet before states) probably beam, possibly floor as well. Does anyone know if we can petition for event specialist at states on 3 events? What happens if she only ends up...
I've been seeing a lot of threads mentioning the ins & outs of qualifying for regionals as an event specialist & it seems to be different everywhere. I'm in region 3. Does anybody know when it is too late to declare event specialty due to injury? Is it even possible to do this at level 7?
I...
What is the qualifying score you must make at state to go to regionals as an IES? My coach said it was 9.5 but that seems really high just for regionals, I had always thought it was a 9.0, I live in region 8 if it matters.
Does anybody know of any? I figured most college ones would but I'm having trouble finding a good one that fit in with my schedule. Does anyone know if flipfest does? Any hp would be appreciated!
So anyone really know something about being an IES ? I'm looking at that option for vault and floor, because I really excel at them. I'm just confused. If I do take this path, can I compete at Nationals if I am one? I wanted to do college gymnastics and I know I can't do all the events but floor...
Have any of your dd's changed from doing all 4 event to doing just 2 or 3?
My dd is tall and has major ankle issue and her coach told her about becoming a specialist and now she really wants to do I lt because it would mean she wouldn't have to do bars or vault.... And she has been telling me...
I was wondering how you can become an event specialist without going to level 8 can you petition to become one or can you test out of level 8 by just doing 2 event or will you have to do all of them? Thanks in advance
so this year my goal was to be a level 7, but last night practice i asked what level you can start to be an event specialist on and my coach said 9 so i ask if i could do that and just do floor and beam (my best events) the reason i ask was because i have ankle issues so vault is just way to...
How do individual event specialists qualify for elite? Do they still have to know other events and compete in those during trials and etc to qualify? I've always been very good at bars, but only beginner level in the other events.. so I'm interested in knowing if I have a chance :s
I know...
I hear/see that a lot of girls do college gymnastics as "event specialists", where they only compete on one or two events, and I even see it in the Olympics...girls who only do 2-3, or even 1, event... I'm wondering at what level, what point, etc. that transition to an event specialist happens...
What are the scoring requirements for being a L9 event specialist for state, regional and nationals?
I found on one site it is 9.5 for regionals in Region 8 but on another site for Region 4 it is a 9.0. I would think all regions would be the same.
Hello, currently, I am in level 5 gymnastics, and only a couple more years till college. One f the coaches at my gym recommended becoming a specialist in one or two events, to make the college team. Is this likely and a good idea? Basically, 2 full years to work on yurchenko fulls on vault if...
