completely off topic:

what's more valuable for college these days? vault specialist or bars specialist?

She is good. I'm not sure if you're a gymnastics coach, probably not? She may not be Simone Biles, but yeah, she is definitely pretty good and certainly better than average level 9 particularly for a first year. I don't really care about her fame or videos, I have just seen her meet videos and she has a good bar routine. Maybe good enough to be a super six bars specialist in five years. Maybe even enough to be an elite bars specialist, who knows. She needs a shaposh, jaeger (seen on her channel she can do a gienger, eh...but hopefully will train a jaeger too at least), and a full twisting double. I'm sure her coaches know that in the elite world bars and beam would likely be her limit (think Ashton). No one said anything about super six, you said NCAA and from what you've seen its not likely. Not sure why you would say that. I'm not her coach or her fan but she has a lot of potential on bars. There is a lot more out there than super six and either way, the bars specialist pool when you're looking for 10.0 execution potential isn't that deep.

Currently they are locking down vault because of the new changes. They are also looking for kids with strong bars as well (changes there as well). However as the community gets better and better the number of spots on college teams remains the same. Then throw in the international kids who take our scholarships and it gets even harder...

The gymnastics community needs to raise its game to get more universities to establish gymnastics programs.

My DD is way too young to worry about this (she is still in elementary school!!) but I know of a girl at her gym who was recruited by a very good school because of her vault. Pretty much only for her vault, though she is a solid gymnast all around. Of course, who knows what it will be in a few years!

Bars and vault. There are a lot of good beam and floor routines. Used to be a lot of good vaults but a stuck full isn't a 10 anymore.

any good examples of JO gymnasts who are great at both? seems great bar swingers are tall/lean/Nastia body type while vaulters tend to be powerful/Simone body type.

Simone is pretty great on bars. Definitely would have done awesome in college. :)

can't believe the following schools don't have gymnastics programs:

University of Texas - ??!? texas is the hotbed of club gymnastics! They would probably be national champions in 1-2 years if they started a program
University of Oregon - they have a D1 Tumbling team instead!
USC

Don't know how reliable it is, but according to scholarshipstats.com, there are actually more athletes competing acrobatics and tumbling in NCAA programs than male artistic gymnasts. I'm glad club opportunities seem to be growing for the guys, but geez.

Most, if not all the University of Wisconsin satellite schools have gymnastics programs but not in Madison.

University of Florida is the only university in the state with a program.

Too many of the Power 5 conference schools do not have gymnastics programs. No excuse for that particularly in the age of Power 5 regional networks and digital media and large on campus facilities that are likely under-utilized.

The Acro and tumbling teams have like 30+ gymnasts per team.
