This is just a curiosity question really.. when you see a gymnast on instagram/youtube/etc that is doing a yurchenko full or 1.5 into a pit (and they are just learning the vault), how close is that to landing a vault onto a mat? You know the ones where they say "Got my 1.5 today!!" but it's into...

I suggested we do this at the last gym my daughter and I worked out at/worked at (when we were moving to a new building and getting new pits) and was shot down so fast. I would love to hear of gyms that take...
My dd is 10 training Hopes and Lvl 9. Her coach just moved gyms and the new location does not have a foam pit.
The question is, are airbags and/or resi pits a safe alternative to the traditional foam pit when learning new lvl 9 and 10 skills?
Hey, so I’ve been having a terrible mental block of tumbling into the pit. BACK tumbling specifically. Like i warm up so many round off back handsprings and my steps are fine but when I go to do the back tuck I get so scared. Can someone help me?
A gymnast in my gym was doing giants with his coach spotting him, but he let go too early and hit his head on the edge of the pit side.
Idk what happened to him, but his coach twisted his ankle bc of the foam.
So my question, is the pit safe. Thanks
My DD feels very comfortable staying a small gym without pit. She is practicing level 9 skills . I am worried about their facility has no pit , how much this wud affect the learning new skills of level 9 and level 10?
We are looking for a new gym. My daughter says she needs to go to a gym with a pit but the gym she wants to go to is way more expensive. My daughter also says this gym is scoring higher because they have a pit. Does this make a difference or should I go with a cheaper gym?
i didn’t thjnk this day would ever come! DD was told that Monday she will move her giants to the pit bar! I know there is still a long road ahead (considering it took her a while to get them on strap) - but I can use some giant fairies sent her way!!!
I'm just curious how other gyms go about cleaning the pit out. How often? Do parents do it? Do you have any special equipment? Top tips?
And how many gyms use those pit socks to cover the foam? They say they extend the life of the foam so are a worthwhile investment in the long run. Any...
Hey everyone!
I've begun teaching tucked flyaways to our prospective level 5s but am running into a little problem. We've been doing "dead cow" drills and they've been going okay, but when it's time to start flipping them it's obvious they get scared and are pulling in on the bar. I've tried...
I am wondering about the pit in other gyms. Should gymnasts be hitting the trampoline at the bottom when doing high level flipping vaults or flipping dismounts off of bars? I think no. If this is happening, what needs to be done? More pit?? Thanks in advance.
How do you all have the padding attached on pit walls? We currently have foam that was glued/velcro to the cement wall. It is not staying very well and I'd like to get it secured better. Was thinking drilling into the wall or something...? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
As most of you know, my DD made a tremendous comeback from a broken tibia and fibula. She has had a great 1/2 season and has all of her level 7 skills back. She is even doing tsuk drills, which I thought she would NEVER do.
However, about 10 months ago while she was in the midst of...
I have a few girls that are Level 4 or XCEL Gold and planning on competing Level 6 next year.
Their favorite thing to do these days is tumble into the pit and they all have really strong round off, back handspring, back tucks on the floor, and in to the pit. They can do the back tuck to...
Ok so I'm a level 8/9 gymnast and as I advance I realize how much we are in need of a pit. My parents worry becuase they don't want us to get hurt learning new skills and I feel like we could advance so much with a pit. Not having a pit I feel has made me not advance as fast I could've with one...
