Our gym is small. We have only one pit which is about 15 x25
There is entry for vaulting on the length of the pit, and the floor entry has the short width of the pit.
We are trying to figure out if a trainer bar can be placed on the edge of the pit. I am guessing GMR double L trainer would...
My daughter is at camp and hit the bottom of an above ground pit. She's never used that type of pit before, but needless to say we are not impressed with them She can't put pressure on her heel and is having sharp pains. I'm not sure if it is a bone bruise or something is broke. Has anyone else...
Hi All--
This is my very first post!
My DD is a 9 year old L6 who has been doing gymnastics for 2 years (just about to the day). She never did rec or pre-team. Instead, she spent years tumbling on (and off!) my furniture until my mother said, "Get that kid in gymnastics!" lol So we went...
Ok, I work at a small city gym with no pits and I have talked to my older dd's gym about using their pits once a week. The owner sounds quite supportive but my boss, the parks manager, is a little cautious. What is a good price for us to pay for pit rental. We would be heading over there with...
Last night DD came home from practice with a sore neck from doing a headspring into the pit. She was having trounle turning her head to the right. She's still sleeping now. What should I watch for when she wakes?
How necessary is it to have a pit at a facility with competitive gymnasts? My dd is beginning optional this winter, and I am having increased anxiety about the safety of learning optional skills without a pit, in addition to the wear and tear on joints when performing skills over and over on...
Hello!
Our Gymnast Club are going to rebuild an exicting hall into a gymnasium with apparatus and landing pit. Unfouryanley, it is impossible to dig down a pit, so we have to buid it above ground. I am trying to design it, but I am very unsure about the dimensions of the rig. I have a...
I don't know if it is just a strange coincidence or if there is an actual reason but every single time we use the foam pit to train I end up with a respitory illness, mostly just colds, but this last one was bad after 3.5 weeks I am still recovering and have a sinus infection and a bad cough...
My DD has an ongoing fear of being spotted on anything related to the bars and balance beam. I have asked this before here on chalkbucket but maybe with some new members someone may have a new idea or two to help her get past the fear. It all started last year when she hurt herself doing a...
What has fallen into your gym's pit and never come out?
A kid lost their phone in the pit yesterday- my coach just gave the look and replied "well it's not coming out" haha :P
Which do you like better and why? Which do you use more? I'd like to just put resi pits in the gym, but I know loose foam is fun. I just don't know if its really necessary or if resi pits are enough for learning new skills. I'll probably do a resi behind vault, and maybe a loose foam pit...
Well 1 month away from Emily's first level 6 meet, we are making progress. She knows she is down to the wire. When we first started training level 6 this backwalkover was going to be a pain. I knew it, Emily knew it. We did not anticipate moving to the Omaha/Council Bluffs area and had no...
I think my one level 8 guy is ready to start learning double-backs off rings, but I'm not sure how best to teach them without pit rings. When I was learning, I basically just chucked it on pit rings until it felt good enough to do it on a mat.
Any pointers?
As president of our booster club, I'm getting ready to purchase new foam for our loose foam pit. This will be the first complete re-fill in years.
We actually have an "L" shaped pit, but for the sake of discussion we'll stick to 1/2 of the L.
The dimensions of this section are 8' wide, 16'...
