HI all - I did a search and found little about NGA so apologies if this has been discussed.
Our gym does both NGA and USAG meets. I do not know how common this is, but it's really silly IMO. We do one NGA meet to ensure the girls qualify for states/regionals/nationals (NGA does meets for all...
This topic comes up every year, and I usually have a pretty zen attitude about it, but I think I've finally hit my limit and am ready to declare that the system is grossly unfair. I'm talking about how the age group system works for L9 and L10 nationals. We are in a competitive region, and it...
I just have to get this out real quick and maybe jealousy isnt the right word for this, but I just dont understand. Lol. My DD recently switched to T&T. I dont stay for practice. I used to hang around for the first 30 minutes and chit chat. I will occasionally try to see the last 30 minutes. One...
AAAGHHHH! That's all I feel right now. I hurt my shoulder a little more than a month and a half ago (I don't know how, it started hurting out of nowhere, and then the pain increased). I went to the doctor 4 weeks ago, and he gave me an x-ray. He said it could either be a problem with the growth...
Hi, I started a new social group. It's called Rants and Vents and Frustrations, Oh My!
If you want to join (and have at least 30 substantive posts), just let me know.
DD is 10 year old level 7 who just fell short of doing Level8 this year. This is totally fine, she was missing an important element one of the events. Her best event is vault. She has had a beautiful tsuk waiting in the wings for more than a year now for the rest of her events to catch up...
My DD (6) has a friend who did gymnastics for 3 years. The mom is basically talking to me like im a horrible mother for even considering letting her continue gymnastics. She just keeps saying "I couldnt imagine letting my daughter stay in gymnastics anymore after what i witnessed." Because...
As competition season steadily aproaches, I realize that I am very angry. For those who don't know I am in the xcel program, where I'm borderline gold. As meets come closer to the forefront of my mind, I am reminded of my fellow competitors and the gyms they represent. Most gyms in my area are...
I'm looking for a pity party and hopefully I'm not the only one who feels this way! My gymmie is my youngest, the baby, & I secretly am hanging on a little tight, but that's another thread! Here's my problem: SHE WILL NOT WEAR ANY CUTE CLOTHES! And I'm tired of buying 'gymnast' labeled and...
I am sick of adults commenting on my DDs height! She's 4'10 and starting optionals this year, a perfectly normal and healthy height and weight.
I realize that we live in a part of the world where women and girls are of short stature and are possibly slower to mature but that doesn't mean my...
I dont understand the deduction for time on beam. I noticed some teams all got hit for it others didn't. When I matched up videos on YouTube they had the exact same time as my dd but weren't deducted.
Feeling frustrated that we still don't have the schedule for states yet, and its a little over a week away! And to make matters worse, the qualify score was changed the day rosters were due, which I'm sure is delaying everything :( That's all. Anyone else in PA that feels my pain???
A little background, I have 2 dd's in gym, my oldest being 17 and my younger one being 7. My older dd currently level 7 and my younger dd just got picked to join the pre optional group ( they train with the optionals but compete the level they are at, so she competes level 4, but they do a lot...
So I am both a coach and a parent (I don't coach my own kids) but I am posting this from a parents point of view. My kids have been going to the same gym for 5 years and I must have paid them thousands and thousands of pounds.Yet I never feel treated as a customer.
Because it's a gymnastics club...
My 13 yo xcel gold DD is a sensitive soul- I am the first to admit that. It's good because she is amazingly empathetic, and bad because her feelings are hurt easily.
Tonight on her vault practice she was told to do her fhs vault over her coach, who was standing in front of the vault. My DD...
My DD went into gym this afternoon bare handed, and walked out tonight with grips in her hand. At no point had grips been discussed, and girls at the gym don't typically get them for xcel bronze (or even silver). HC told DD that the cost (no idea how much) would just be added to our account. Is...
I have noticed, and my mum does it too, that a lot of parents relate to gymnastics as theirs and there child's... That doesn't make sense let me give you an example.
Person: so your learning your routine
Parent: yes WE are learning but WE have a lot of trouble with the dance don't WE
Another...
I have been undergoing an education today, an education in how messed up the system for getting to NAT/NIT for L10's is.
I now realise that many girls will be staying at home with 37's from R7, and the like, whilst girls from R2, and the like, will be going with 34's.
This is just wrong in...
My gym's Xcel Team had a meet last weekend, and I didn't hear about the details until today. I am fuming after what I heard!!
I am the JO head coach and gym director but we have other coaches who lead the Xcel team, so I wasn't at the meet. The details I gathered were from my Xcel head coach...
Seriously, why judge if you aren't going to take the deductions? It is mathematically impossible for a kid to score a 34.5 + on compulsory level 6 when they can't hit the split requirements, bent legs and arms on the back handspring step out, a hop after the punch front, a wild front tumble...
