I think that is a great thing to have, especially for the lower levels. Just wanted to share in case anyone is interested!
USA Gymnastics has given a sneak peak at the proposed new skills and “probable” routine sequences for Levels 1 – 5 for 2021-2029.

Listed below are the proposed skills and sequences by event for each level.
VAULT
Level 1:
Straight jump onto min. of 16″ mat, kick up to HS, fall to...
We are in the process of relocating from South-Africa to the US. our WAG levels are different here, so I need to determine which level my daughter will be a in the US. Is there anywhere a list of skills per apparatus per level to assist me? For example for level 4 she needs to be able to do a...
DD is 7 and L4. She was singled out to move up this past year to uptraining with L6/7 girls. Our gym is very small so no L5. The group thinned out over the year to only 3 girls and now is being merged in with a larger group training L7-10. DD is fine with skills and improving rapidly (far beyond...
It seems our gym takes FOREVER to start training (regularly) on new skills. DD has done level 9 for the last two years, made it to Regionals both times but not Easterns.... She is not a fan of level 9 (lol) and is ready to push past this and feels the gym isn't aggressive enough.....
Just...
I can clearly see the skills needed for compulsary levels, but after the level 4 skills, what are the next "big skills" to look forward to? I realize that each kid will find certain skills harder/easier, but are there some typical level 6 skills that most kids will work towards? Thanks!
Is an "E" skill on beam comparable to an "E" skill on floor in terms of difficulty and potential percentage of gymnasts who can compete that skill? Is an "E" dismount on bars equivalent to an "E" release move in terms of difficulty? seems like many more gymnasts can do a double layout dismount...
I am trying to figure out for floor and beam - what would be typical for a first year L9 to compete at a minimum? (ie a competent but not a strong L9 on the spectrum of skill difficulty.)
And what would be expected skills for a L9 who has been at the level for two or three years, getting ready...
Just curious what level 6 & level 7 skills your gym requires.
Our level 6 compete:
Bars:
- Minimum: kip, cast, free hip, squat on to high bar, kip, cast, tuck fly
- Goal: handstands on high and low and layout fly
Floor:
- Minimum: ROBHBT & FHFT (tumbling) Leap to side leap (leaps)
- Goal...
Hello all! I'm new here, but have been reading many posts and learning lots about the sport! My daughter has taken to gymnastics and keeps asking to do more, more and more gymnastics! She is in a level 2 equivalent training right now but wants more. The next step at her gym is level 3...
At what point in your level 10 gymnast career did she stop acquiring new and more difficult skills and start perfecting existing skills? (Assuming start value of 10 on all events)
Seems it is very difficult to hit those really high scores if every year you are competing new skills.
DS coach said DS needs to through the "level 8 book" and select some skills he wants to add. DS and I have been looking online for the book all morning and cannot find it. Does anyone know what this book is and where we can find it?
Hello,
I have gotten a few requests to make a video for unique skills that I love (https://www.chalkbucket.com/forums/threads/judges-coaches-is-this-in-the-cop-and-what-value.58544/#post-493644). So why not start it now?
Feel free to add any of your favorites, just make sure that it is a video...
Other than the actual skills required for level 4 competition, what else does your gym include in their decision as to whether a kid will move from lvl 3 to lvl 4? Like what sort of strength/conditioning or score minimum, etc. Do they require the child to do a certain number of leg lifts...
My coach decided we should all try to find a 'cool' skill to do on beam to distinguish us from the other competition. I was thinking I could do things like pommel scissors etc. because I was okay at them. Do you think they look okay?
And don't say 'ask my coach,' I want YOUR opinion :D From...
So I have a meet coming up in about a week. Recently I developed costochondritis, which is basically inflamed chest. I've been out of gymnastics for 2 weeks, and my skills on beam (and like 1 on bars) are iffy. What do you suggest I do at home to help? I have 3 practices left before the meet, so...
I'm xcel platinum (I don't know if it makes a difference)
(the ending is supposed to go all the way around, like a sole circle, coming to a stand on the low bar)
Thanks!
So one of my requirements this year is a flight skill for beam. My round-offs are okay, but since I can't use it as part of my dismount, I tend to fall backward slightly. And for back handsprings, I would prefer not to do them. I can technically do them, but they are scary and so I've been...
other than a judges notebook? lol
i'm just curious and nosy. i know the coaches know but i don't want to be bothering them just b/c i would like to know as well.
