Hi, my DD is competing level 3 this year and my other DD is competing Xcel bronze, keep in mind DD L3 is born in 2015 and DD XB is born in 2016. However, my daughter in level 3 has a late birthday, for some reason this competition (and her gym) wants her in the level 3 2016 age division because she has a really late birthday? Is this common? Let me know.

Every meet is different when it comes to age groups. They are determined by number of gymnasts that enter the meet.

I recommend letting go of any concerns over what age group your child competes in at a given meet. At some meets, your child will be the youngest and at other meets they might be the oldest. At some meets the younger age group will be more competitive and at other meets the older age group will be more competitive. This is not something you can control, so don’t worry about it.
