Depends on their level, but I'm usually more interested in their basics than tricks. I also spend most of that time finding out what they enjoy, what they don't, things they take pride in, things they feel need improvement, what are their fears. and most importantly why do they want to move. The last question is probably the most crucial.

HG; This is not a hard question as I have a form that coaches fill out on the meeting. The following are titles of sections for the coach to write impressions of.

(1) Motivation
(2) Passion
(3) Goals
(4) Fitness/strength/injury (history or current level)
(5) Basic skills (considering last competed level)
(6) Strengths and skills the gymnast sees as assets.
(7) Strengths and skills the gymnast can bring to our gym.

Best, Eric -

My gym does, strength and flexability and includes things like;
Rope climb
Leg lifts
Checking to see if there elbows are hyperextended
Squat test (flexability)
Checks the run/ sprint
Toe flexability
All splits
And many others, we then get emailed the results and told what class we have been put into

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
