Hello all!
I have been having issues with my backbend kickover (like not being able to kickover farther than, like, six inches off the ground) and was wondering if anyone has some tips. I was able to do it once at practice on a 12" box, but haven't been able to do it since. Can someone help?
Thanks

Besides kicking really hard, I tell my gymnasts to push through their shoulders. This means trying to press your armpits “open” and really push your hands into the ground as you kick over. Another drill is kicking over with your feet up on a cheese mat and your hands on the floor. Make sure to ask your coach before you try anything, and I’m sure your coach could spot you on the cheese mat kick over until you get a feel for it.
