My daughter got her cast handstand to vertical but when she gets to vertical she falls over the top of the bar (in a controlled manner) instead of going back down from the cast handstand. What does she need to do to stop doing this?

If she has only just got it, going over part of the learning process in finding vertical. She will work it out with time/experience and guidance from her coaches.

It will likely improve with better shaping, timing, strength and repetition. There are many drills that can be done to help with issues, but without seeing it - we can't really pinpoint the issue - she needs to listen to the coaches corrections.

A good basic handstand saving/strength drill is doing an open handstand with feet resting on a wall and then engaging core muscles to pull feet off wall back to a vertical balance.

Half of the challenge with this skill is fear of falling over which holds many kids back from ever getting there. It's more of an issue when they can't/won't go over.

Its important that she learns to both hold her HS and to fall over, either by turning out, and the less popular walkover out. Learning the planche position is also important. She'll get it, in time. I teach the kids to fall, as I feel like that is an important part of learning gym.
