I’m in Xcel gold right now switching to level 6. I want to be a college gymnast, so I decided to switch as soon as possible. I’ve only been competing for 3 years. Hear my plan.
14yo - level 6
15 yo -level 7
16 yo - level 8
17 yo - level 9
18 yo - level 10 (stay back an extra year and join college gymnastics sophomore year if needed)

Yes, it may be heard to level up 1 per year, but some people in my gym just recently went from level 4 to level 7, some going to 8. Trust me, it’s possible.

Anything is possible, but this plan leaves no wiggle room for errors (injury, mental blocks, burnout). It also doesn’t account for the increasing demands of school (more homework, college prep). Lastly, it doesn’t leave much room for other things you might care about (vacations, hanging out with friends, hobbies).

Keep in mind that you not only need to make it to level 10, you need to be a REALLY GOOD level 10. This is why most college athletes tend to have several years of level 10 experience. For you to realistically have a shot at college gymnastics, you will need to dedicate every inch of your spare time to the sport. For most people, this way of life is simply not sustainable from a physical or mental health perspective.

Yes it is possible, but very unlikely.

Ah yes. You could definitely have a shot at club gymnastics. Even Division 3 as an event specialist. In fact, that’s what I did! I did about one level per year, maxed out at level 9, and then joined a D3 college team for uneven bars.

look into NAIGC club gymnastics, as a strong former level 9 or 10 you can excel in NAIGC! not saying to give up on your goals but it's something else great that is an option besides ncaa gym
