Me too. There are 2 at our gym, plus two Aspires who aspire to be Elite by the end of the year

Thanks much! I'm curious to know how many Elites will be there!
Oh and to add, dds coach said that this year Aspire is closer to what Elite used to be.
That is exactly what HC said at our gym.... this year's Aspire is like Elite the year before, and this year's Elite is last year's with the some of the bonus built in.
I tried to figure out how many, but it's too hard. There were alot more Aspires last year than the year before. But with Elite slightly more difficult, perhaps some can't make the jump. But the difference between Elite (without bonus) and Aspire is smaller, so some (like my DD) may have chosen to go direct to Elite and forego Aspire altogether (she is 9, so this is the first of two years for her in Elite).
So minimum 5 kids that we know of..... could be quite a few more. Guess I'll get a text from DH the day of, as I can't go. And given they can join or switch anytime, the numbers may change to provincials.
I wonder why such dramatic changes this year? I do know that in provinces like Quebec and BC there are A Lot more kids in the CPN program, so maybe they were trying to decrease the numbers? Making it much closer to Novice?
I think you are right - to make it an easier jump to National Novice. Say for example last year you competed the min. required layout half on floor in Elite, no bonus. That doesn't move you very close to the requirements for novice, which is what I am told the CPN program is for. Nor is a bar routine where you do bonus elements separately very realistic..... suddenly you have to incorporate a significantly longer routine then also start adding release moves, etc. So that makes it closer.
My hope is that DD is able to cleanly compete this year and get actual competition experience. Next year she can rock the bar and floor bonus![]()
I agree that moving the bar skills in the routine will help transition better to Novice. I suspect that this year may be a transition year for Elite as most kids would have only been starting to practice front giants, toe ups etc and not necessarily putting them in a routine. My daughter was one of those kids who had the bar skills outside the routine but I think she could have put them in the routine had it been required. I think you will see a lot more kids next year with bonus skills in the bar routine. Just my thoughts as I had a gymnast in elite last year.
Looking at the skills required for elite this year - it is certainly closing up the gap somewhat but it is still a pretty big jump to the Novice skills.
I loved the CPN program. I wished my daughter could have been in it from age 8 or 9 rather then 10 being her first year. Great program.
We have 2 Elite and 1 Aspire. How many do they take to National Stream Cup?Me too. There are 2 at our gym, plus two Aspires who aspire to be Elite by the end of the year![]()
By the sounds of it, looks like they will have much more than 6Last year it was top 6..... Elites only, unless they don't have 6, then they take Aspires.
So is your dd going novice or going to provincial? She did so well last year at Easterns, but like you said it's a big jump.
Dd is doing some of the last year bonus skills sometimes, but not yet in the routine.
I asked the same question about aspire going to NSC and they can still go if club decides to take them ( not representing province but club team) correct me ladies if I am wrong
