When your dd is taking 2-3 private lessons a week in addition to the 12-16 hour team practices.
When same dd is on a winning team, but your dd isn't winning enough for you in spite of the 2-3 privates a week, so you take her to a new gym and your dd scores out of the level she is on, and then scores out of the next level 2 weeks later so that she can move up quicker than her former teammates (who will also be moving up to the same level by August or September, so they will all be competing the same level come January anyway).
When you tell the other team parents that the gym is holding the girls back by not scoring them out and moving them up a level as soon as they score a 31.00 AA or higher.
When you spend $10,000 extra a year on private lessons and private trainers for your 10-yr-old compulsory gymnast.
When you switch gyms 11 times in 3 years trying to find an owner who will move your daughter up faster and put her in the level you think she should be in, moving across the country twice and claiming it's job-related (wow, and right near that famous gym, too. What a coincidence!). True story.
