Hi all,
I used to rip really badly all the time. Well, it's started again. I just wanted to know what your policies are on doing bars while the girls have rips. I did USAG level 7 last year and am training 8 right now. I rip probably twice a week, and a lot of the time, I can fight through it. However, I recently got new grips so my hands have been very bad. On Wednesday I ripped at the beginning of our bars rotation - it was pretty deep and bled pretty heavily for such a small cut. I worked through it but, at the end of the rotation, ripped again (sort of a re-rip of an old one, but it also bled).
My question is about what to do when my hands are torn up like this. Yesterday I taped my hand up and tried to do bars, but because of the pain and the amount of tape that I had to use, I was having trouble shifting my wrists properly and it didn't go well. My hands bled again. Today I just did strap bar because regular bars hurt too badly. I know I should be able to fight through the pain, but I really can't. I will get up and do skills, but I don't swing hard for them and they're no good.
What can I do to avoid getting rips or help them heal faster? When I have bad rips like these, what should I do during bars? None of my teammates get rips as badly or as often as I do, so I'm losing an awful lot of productive time on bars.
