Anon Free hip/cast away kip help !

I've been working on free hips for platinum, but have a really hard time with the kip up part. I've tried doing cast away kips to practice, but I can't keep my legs up, or find the rhythm. I either drag my legs across the floor, or end up jamming them down. I think I also need to open/extend more out of it, but any tips or drills would be super helpful!!
 
As a taller gymnast I accepted I would always hit the ground untill recently. Getting a higher clear hip started to help. Work lots of abs to make sure you are strong enough to do it for some reason a kip out of a clear hip uses more muscles than a normal kip. I have recently stated doing kips from a panel starting with holding the bar. Then I do clear hip to mat immediately jump off mat to kip. I've also been working clear hip kip with a octagon or blow up jelly bean mat trying to only gently touch it before doing the kip.
