My level 3 daughter is really struggling to get her front hip circles. I will post a link to a video of her trying one and I am hoping someone can offer some insight as to where she is going wrong. I know wrapping around the bar is poor form, but at this point, we just need her to be able to stay on the bar without a spot during her meets.

She is shifting her hands too early. If she pushes away from the bar on the fall with locked out arms until close to horizontal she will have enough momentum to pike and circle the bar. She needs to make sure when she shifts that her hands are at the top of the bar so that when she sits up she can push down against the bar.

1. You have to wrap your hips around the bar in a pike position for this to work- but tuck is a fine place to start; it is easier and you can fix the form once you figure out how to 'make' the front hip.

2. pushing up into that high hollow position does create a lot of speed to help out the circle- but it's harder to reach the wrap position when pushed up THAT high (if you can make it work, it's fine). I recommend lowering down a little bit so the bar is closer to her hips and instead making a straight body position- that will also help generate some speed but the wrap will be more feasible.
