My daughter was moved to L7 after our gym had already registered for meets back in August. This week her coach told her that she will have to compete L6 at a meet in January because the meet doesn’t have room for her at L7. However, she already competed as a L7 last month and will compete L7 again this month (both sanctioned meets).

I looked at her meet registrations on the USAG website and she is registered as a L7 for all of this season’s meets except for the one in January that the coach mentioned. Can you switch levels back and forth like this? I’m just curious.

Thank you.

I believe if it's before the declaration date for state meet, it is allowed. She just can't compete at 2 state meets,

Yes she can do this without issues. The only thing I’d be careful of is on vault at level 6 they can’t kiss their feet or it’s a 1 point deduction. Otherwise she should be able to compete her same routines at 6.

Can't she just compete out of session at that L6 meet? She wouldn't be eligible for awards but at least she'd have the consistency in staying in her level. Also, is her coach planning on double checking with the meet organizer in the days leading up to the meet? Seems like there are always kids not able to compete last minute due to injury or illness.
