DS just moved up to level 5 and got measured for his first pair of grips tonight. No idea what kind they'll be getting but very exciting!

I reccomend Fabian hamutchen (totally messed up that spelling) ring grips from dgs.com they are pretty much the best in the sport but they are a little pricy so if tneu are too expensive go reisport.

As for the girls ring grips thing girls grips are very similar to ring grips so many times I've seen people mix the two up. But ring grips have bigger dowels

My son has been using grips made by a local craftsman who is very popular around here for his gymnastics grips. The dowels on his ring grips are the same size as the dowels on his high bar grips. His coach wants him to switch to grips with larger dowels, but he has small hands and is having a hard time with the strange new feel. After three weeks, he switched back to the old grips because his skills were going downhill.

Is the larger dowel necessary for level 7 skills? Is it a detriment or danger to use grips with smaller dowels on rings?
