OK, so competition age determination is a whole other subject. You guessed it, USAG has rules for that as well. For an invitational meet, meet directors usually specify what date will be used for age determination.

Okay, this startled me for some reason. Our meets have sessions determined based on number of gymnasts from each club (trying to make each session for each level as equal as possible) as well as being courteous regarding travel time for teams.

However, we parents were told that the TN USAG rep/director/whatever was the person responsible for dividing the groups into their sessions and age categories rather than the hosting gym. Perhaps I am confusing hosting versus meet direction??

Because -

Some states do that, especially for state qualifying meets. For your typical invitational, it is completely up to the meet director. Sometimes the state organization will want approval authority, but it is still the meet director building the meet schedule.

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
