When Dd was 6 she was doing soccer, gymnastics and dance. This was before she was on team so she had time to try other things. A year later she was invited to join team and was practicing 3 days a week. I made her choose between dance team and gymnastics because they both required a huge time commitment. She chose gymnastics and still did rec soccer for a season, but she had to miss a couple games due to gym practice. It soon became apparent that she would have to drop soccer too.

Fast forward a couple years and she has found her passion in gymnastics and calls it "her thing." I am so glad that she had those years to try different things so that we both can see that it is truly her passion. Because gymnastics has this addictive ability to draw these girls is and hold onto them once they are on team. If she does choose gymnastics, be prepared for the long haul. It is the most exciting but frustrating sport you will ever see your child do!!
