Replace "Lord" with "Please" and it is a poem
Could be just thanking coaches and parents, etc. that way.

We are in a YMCA gym... I filter out a lot... and when we create our "prayer" to read at the start of each session of the home meets, I like to look at them and make minor tweaks - so if you get past the first 2 words and the last word, it is just a poem being read by cute kids.

What bothers me about the above prayer is that the meter is inconsistent.

It's a cute prayer. If it helps the kids mentally, so be it.

Here stand at the meet
I pray for the competition I may beat
And if I fall admits the cheers
I pray I can hold my tears
And one more thin success or not
I pray the creator of the beam be shot
