We have moved to a new area and I am struggling with the gym my daughter is currently attending. I'm looking for an elite level gym that has a good training program. Preferably in Round Rock, TX. Any suggestions? My daughter will be in the excel program at her current gym.

I'm not in the area, but I will ask some questions that can hopefully guide you and others.

What are you struggling with at the current gym?

Does the current gym use Xcel to bypass compulsories or was your daughter assessed into the Xcel program? (What level)/ Did she compete before you moved?

What are your daughter's goals?

Do you mean a gym that has elites? There honestly aren't gyms with elites in every city. Many elites spend hours each week commuting to practice. A strong program will have girls scoring well in levels 9 and 10, and mymeetscores.com can be a way to look into a program. Broadening your search to Austin could give you some more options as well.

Thank you so much for your reply! My daughter is currently a Level 3 gymnast and is about to join the competition team. The gym we’re at says they use the Xcel program to give more girls an opportunity to compete. However, their program isn’t very strong—there are no Level 9 or 10 gymnasts at this gym, as most of them have left, along with the previous Level 3 group before we arrived. While the gym is trying to revamp its program, I personally feel that the quality doesn’t align with the cost of the competition team fees.

We live in the Killeen/Harker Heights area, which is why we’re considering Round Rock as our next option (about an hour’s drive). We’re also open to exploring gyms in Austin if necessary.

My daughter is currently six years old, so we have some time, but I want her to be at a gym that can help her achieve her goals. Right now, she dreams of competing at the college level and internationally. These are big goals, and while they may change as she grows, I want to ensure she’s in an environment where those options remain possible. Unfortunately, I don’t see that being the case at our current gym.

You are from my area... I know of a gym very close to you, and a sister gym (same owners) in Leander that have a strong optional programs (multiple level 9s and 10s that score well). There Arnt really any elite programs between here (Killeen and South Austin). I can give you the names of the gyms if you are interested.

Yes. I would love that.
