Does anyone know if the new rules for Optionals will still allow a gymnast to advance to the next level without achieving the 34 AA and with the 8.5 per apparatus? My daughter is going into Level 8 and is almost 16, she struggles with the bars and at this point I would just like her to concentrate these last two years on the skills she can achieve in vault, floor and beam.

Thanks.

I didn't know you could do that prior to the changes (advance levels w/o the mobility AA). I am pretty sure you had to keep hitting the AA mobility score to go from 8-9 and then 9-10... That would be nice if it changed though as I too have a DD that would love to stop HAVING to do bars after getting the 7-8 AA mobility score.

Oh, and I don't think you need 8.5 per apparatus, or do you in some states? I thought it was just an AA - like you can get a 7 something if you get a high enough 9 on something else to make up.

We won't know for sure until the 2013-14 Rules and Policies are issued, but I would bet that the requirement will not change - 8.5 in each of the events that they are a specialist in (only for levels 7, 8, and 9).

Thanks. When do you think the Rules & Policies will be issued? I thought I read someplace that they were meeting in May but wasn't sure if that meant we would know something by June?!?

The R&P is different from the code of points. I wouldn't expect the R&P before Aug.
