Ah sorry I should have read it more carefully. I accessed this through the whats new tab so I didn't notice the forum!

In that case: I intend to get double twisting layouts on floor this year. Double back and front saulto's and I want to be able to hold planche, cross and v sit on rings.

Goals for this season:
1) Get my splits down
2) Get my back handspring
3) Get a front tuck on the floor

If you I could accomplish even only two of those I would be super super happy :-)

Yayyy two exciting things tonight!! First thing is I actually did a bridge kickover from the ground for the first time ever!!!! I have always had TERRIBLE shoulder flexibility and I've been working so hard on it ever since I started gymnastics classes. It literally used to be so bad that I could barely do a bridge so a kickover is a huge accomplishment for me :D
Second thing is that my cast squat-on mental block is officially gone! Feeling very satisfied with myself tonight! It's nights like this that keep the gymnastics addiction alive :p

Awesome, MLJ! My goal for this year is to get my wrist healed so that I can get back into the gym. My physio has referred me to a specialist hand physio. It might be another three months before I can get back to gym :( I am really missing bar, especially.

Thanks Nicki. So sorry to hear that you're still having trouble with your wrist :[ Hopefully the specialist can get everything sorted out and you'll be back and better than ever! I know how hard it is to have to be away from the gym for a while.

Aw nicki, sorry to hear about your wrist, hope it gets better soon! I have started connecting my front flyspring to a forward roll, well, more of a dive roll, started working BHS again, now that I am not afraid to jump off my leg since surgery! Started working my squat on again for bars....however bars still elude me for some reason, and only on silly little things like my pullover. I have it, but not consistently, because I THINK and then I don't do. I vaultd a couple of weeks ago and my knee swelled up, so I am laying off of vault for a while longer. I figure worse case at nationals AAU, the novice division allows the lvl 4 vault, so if I don't have my FHS vault by then, it's ok. Onward and upward...I would love to be able to do a bar change at nationals....something to work on!

Ok so, as many of you know, I have been claiming to have my pullover for about 2 years now. Well, I had an inconsistent kickover. I now officially have a proper start from two feet, off two feet at the same time pullover! It finally clicked. It was actually not even a coach who got it to click for me, because I didn't realize what I was doing was stopping, hence forth why I wasn't making it over. So in one fell swoop, up and over I went. And again. After all this time of the mechanics of it not fully making sense, something FINALLY clicked I think! and super excited because even though I am working on getting the last peice of my kip, I don't think I will have it by the end of June for nationals, so I can compete my pullover, do it properly, and get minimum deductions

My daughters gym just opened an adult gymnastics class. Its just a bunch of us team moms and some of the coaches. I joined just because everyone, esp my daughter, said I couldn't do it. I hate to admit it but I don't even know how to do a cartwheel! A volleyball was mine love and carry around like many of our daughters would love to carry around an event. Last week was the first week and we didn't do much, just got use to the gym and realize I am the only one who cant do anything higher then a forward roll lol We have a meet coming up in June which should be just a riot! I am going to stick with it and as I tell the girls when they ask which level I am in I proudly say- Prep Op Tarnish.

Awesome! I'm always trying to talk the other gym mums into coming to adults class but they never do!

I've been out if gym since January due to my wedding and move to WA. I got the email yesterday that my health insurance is finally in order so once I get my card in the mail I'll be back in the gym. It'll be interesting being in a new gym.

Congratulations on your wedding teena! Definitely let us know how everything goes with a new gym!

So I learned how to do a front handspring off the end of the tumble track a few months back but I haven't been able to do it for a while because my hip decided it didn't like it anymore. Last night I finally learned how to do a fhs from two feet (I guess some people either call it a flyspring or a front bounder?) and it's so much fun!!! I'll probably upload the video to my youtube channel at some point this morning so you can watch that and my other fhs video if I'm not explaining this very well :p

I love front bounders! And they help a lot with FHS vault too I have noticed. This week I took my cartwheel to a medium height beam, and only missed one, but only one was actually good, I was piking over instead of going up over my head. I think that may have been due to me being on the medium height beam and being a little unsure of myself. It's funny how being up higher, though scarier, you're more likely to stay on! It was also mentioned to me that instead of working on squat ons, to work on pike ons instead. So I think I shall see what next week brings in that dept. Otherwise, no huge accomplishments, but no huge setbacks either. Oh, besides being unable to do a handstand on beam. I've decided I will probably never have one in my routine, and just want to be able to do it to learn how to deal with my shoulder popping out of place when I do them on beam, but for no other reason right now.

So even though I am still working on squat ons, I alos have started just climbing to the high bar. Which used to not be a problem for me, before my multiple knee surgeries lol! So I have been learning how to do it in such a way that it doesn't hurt my knee, and I think I figured it out yesterday, and was able to climb from the low bar to the high bar numerous times without pain in my knee! So I will have a bar change in my routine in June, even if I don't have a squat on, which of course I will continue to work on. And my lvl 5 dismount Have my AAU membership, now I just need to register for nationals, which will most likely be on Wednesday when I get paid!

This thread hasn't been updated in a while so I thought I would start it up again :] I've been able to go twice a week for the last month or so because my work schedule has changed a bit and it's amazing how much faster you can learn things versus only going once a week! I was working on spotted bhs down a wedge mat and for the last few classes I've been working on jumping onto my hands and then falling flat on my stomach on an 8-incher. I had a problem with folding over in the middle of my bhs and this drill has really helped! I finally mastered it last Thursday and did some beautiful ones without collapsing my waist or shoulders :] Now I just have to go back to the tumble track and hope the bad habit doesn't come back!

How is everyone else doing?

I am still working on bhs and I still don't get the right arm swing to completely flip over. My spotter is still carrying most of my weight. It is a bit depressing :-(

BHS is a hard skill to get, don't be frustrated! You'll get it, just keep working at it!
So far I continue to work on stuff for nationals next month, still trying to fine tune skills. FHS vault, with mini tramp is easily obtained now. I was having a hard time with the regular spring board because of my knee, it was hurting it, but now that I am doing it on the mini tramp, and at nationals will be allowed to use the aero board, it isn't a problem, because it obviously doesn't hurt to jump hard for pre flight! So that was a HUGE goal obtained for me! Still working on squat on and consistently making it to the high bar, gotta remember to put my butt in the air! Lets see.....floor nothing exciting has happened there recently. I started throwing FHS on the TT again and landing them. And beam, added a tuck jump half (can do 3/4, but it's a B skill and not allowed for novice), cat leap, carwheel and RO dismount. And that's that. No real uptraining until after nationals. Oh, on my kip I can get half up to my chest now lol and for fun I have been working front tucks too. Would like to have it by the end of the year on floor

So I have now taken my FHS vault from the trainer to the proper table, and landing instead of going into the pit, YAY! Now I need to work on getting rid of my pike, but plenty of time for that. I'm just proud of myself for doing FHS vault over the actual table as opposed to the trainer, and landing it (Ok, ok, I landed on my tush once lol). And I think I will start doing my turns on beam from a lunge instead of stepping into them, I was able to stick 4/6 the other day by doing it this way. The only two things I'm still really nervous about is floor and bars. Floor because of my knee and I still don't go full bore into things, and bars because, well, they're sometimes touch and go. Aw well, I have four practices this week, hopefully it will go well. How are things going for you guys?

I made a round-off back handspring by myself and moved up to level 6 in rec. I'm also going to join the team soon! I really really want to get my kip and my cartwheel on the high beam!

Two steps forward.....one step back. Couldn't vault today. Kept balking and freaking out for some reason.....and now I'm getting even MORE freaked out, because competition is two weeks away, and I only have next week left for practices. I suppose worse case scenario I can still do a flat back, but I really want to go over the table. WHAAA. Ok, vent over. Hopefully it was only a mental block for today
