job decision

I had posted a couple threads about ymca vs. usag gymnastics and about a job possibility. Thanks to all who answered. Just wanted to share that I have come to a decision. A couple years ago I approached my old boss about buying his gym. He wanted to do a 5 year transition where I would come in and learn about the business side of things before buying it. I decided not to do it. But after having a baby and reevaluating, I contacted him again saying I was willing to make a slower transition. I didn't hear back from him. But at a meet a few weeks ago, he came up to me and said that he was ready to sell the gym. I went in today to talk to him. I will start working with pre-team through level 5s on Mondays until June, when I will leave my current gym, and start there full time. I'm really excited about this opportunity. I've wanted this for a long time. The town where his gym is and the surrounding area haven't had a good gymnastics program in a long time.

I agree with dunno! Also, talk to a lawyer and be very clear when you "take posession". Five years sounds like a really long transition for "buying" a business. Good Luck, I hope it goes great!
