Hi! I am an Xcel Gold gymnast, and I am having a hard time keeping my bar routine moving. And I keep pausing for too long in between skills, but whenever I try not to pause I end up falling, or my routine looks terrible. For reference, my routine is kip, cast double back hip circle, 2 tap swings, then flyaway. Also, I'm an older gymnast at about 5'4. Please help me, any tips?

I'd have to see a video to be sure, but I can take some educated guesses.

I'm assuming you're referring to a pause between the kip and the cast, and a pause between the 2BHC and the squaton, correct? If that's the case, you are most likely not finishing your kip and your 2nd BHC in a cast loading position; try to finish those skills with both your feet and your shoulders in front of the bar, and the connected cast should happen more or less automatically.

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
