I just wanted to share this here!

I had regional team finals yesterday, and we won! And I scored very high on bars and beam, really contributing a lot to the team score!
On beam I think my wolf turn went really solid, and my cartwheel-stepthrough-cat leap connection counted, and my lowbar Kip-cast above horizontal wasn't my normal plank-straight legs but it was still very good high tight hollow in the cast :D. And my flyaway went really high.

And just fyi, if anyone ever needed the inspiration. I'm 29. I started gymnastics 4 years ago as an adult for the first time in my life. I competed in the senior category of our regular competitions, not some special adult rec league or sth. So if anyone ever tells you adults can't learn gymnastics, direct them to me haha.

I'm 28 myself and am enjoying coming back to the sport for fun and fitness after 8ish years out of consistent training. I'm hoping to compete again this year (adult British champs) for the first time in 9 years, so your post is great inspiration for me 😊 congrats again!!

Honestly, the main reason I wanted to post this was exactly for the people who aren't sure adults can learn gymnastics. The bragging was just a bonus, haha.
Are you finding good consisten training? My biggest challenge is that I'm not in a competetive group, I'm in an adult rec class. We have all levels from "jumping tsukahara" to "learning to cartwheel", and not usually a lot of trainers, so it's very independent if you wanna work on long term skills. It's more "work by yourself and ask the coach if you need tips/drills/feedback/spotting"
 
At 43 I feel my spine breaking reading this!! WAY to go!! I wish there was something like this when I was younger. That said if I can get in better shape I'm totally doing the adult class.

Honestly, these really aren't spine breaking skills. There's no backbends or back handsprings or walkovers in my routines :)

Good luck getting into better shape. And honestly, don't feel like you have to let that stop you if you'd wanna join sooner. Gymnastics could also help you get into shape, you'd just have to figure out what does and doesn't work for your current situation. A lot is possible.

Even if you're e.g. underweight, some warm ups and gentle stretching is always an option with the right guidance, and maybe more depending on your condition.
and if you're e.g. overweight there's lots of options. Warming up should be possible; stretching, shaping drills, practising jumps, maybe trampoline, some bars swings. Body tension and jumps and turns on beam. Handstands and tumbling etc though if you're really heavy be careful not to overtax your joints and make sure to take enough breaks!
And if there's another reason you're not in shape, a good gym can usually work with you

Yes yes I really need to get back into swimming since its easier on my joints.
