Howdy, my 7 y/o DD has been doing basic gym skill since she was about 18 months, and is currently on a level 3 team. She will be moving up to a level 4 at the first of the year, and who knows from there. She taught herself a back handspring, front punch and several other stunts, even though her coach discourages it. He believes the whole "team" should be on the same pace. We are currently at the gym 5 nights a week with gym and cheer, and I am getting burned out, but she certainly is not. She actually cries when we can't go. We are certainly interested in her going as far as she can with the sport, but also want her to take her time and have fun along the way. Looking forward to reading others trials and errors, and hopefully gain some good insight into other training gyms and camps.

Hi, welcome to the Chalk Bucket! Nice to see that your dd is so excited about her sports and activities! Those little ones just have an endless reservoir of energy, don't they. When does your gymmie start competing? I bet she'll love it! :) I hope you find the CB as useful as I do. Everyone on the site is great and incredibly helpful and supportive.

If you want some quick info on camps, I compiled a list of some of the best around the country and all the basic info about them in a blog post. The link is here, if you're interested in looking into some of those.
