Parents New skill! Cast to handstand

My DD came home from practice yesterday with a shout out from her coaches for getting her cast to handstand! They haven't even practiced for the skill (in its entirety- just drills) until yesterday from what she tells me!

I think it's pretty exciting! She is constantly amazing me!

I'm still very new to all of this-- when will she actually need that skill, what level? She just moved to 4 for the remainder of the competitive season...

You will want to have that by the time she reaches optionals so she is well on her way! Congrats!

I believe that's either 6 or 7? My DD is in L4 but also in TOPS & cast HS is one of the skills she has to have for that to test.

We learn it in 6, and about half of our 6s compete it, but it isn't necessary until later.

Thank you!! I wish we had a TOPs option where we are... She is 7 and in February she will have been in gym for 2 yrs.... She has accomplished a lot in what I think is a short period of time!! Based on what I read on this forum she would maybe have what it takes to do it, but nothing near us.
