Hello!

I was a gymnast for 17 years and I've been coaching for 11, but I was recently made the new Tumble and Trampoline coach for our gym. I have a lot of experience in the sport as a whole, but T&T is new to me and I was wondering if anyone had any tips, suggestions, etc. they could send my way. I am very excited about my new coaching position and want to be the best coach to these kids. So again, if you have any tips, please let me know!

Thanks so much!

Robyn

Ohmigosh. Have you any experience with T&T at all? It is a wonderful sport, I have been in love with it for more years than I wish to acknowledge, but coaching it is very different from coaching artistic.

I'd advise going to as many workshops & trainings as you can. Some things transfer over (a backhandspring is a backhandspring), but I could spend all day on the finer differences/things that seem counterintuitive on trampoline in just the preteam levels!

One general piece of advice: Be picky from the beginning on bounce technique, shapes, arm positions, etc in the very basics even. And get them comfortable with height from the very beginning. I guess that's more than 1, technically.

Annnd welcome to the best sport ever.

Thank you so much for your advice! I have been focusing on arms and height and will continue to do so. Thanks again and I will do my best to find workshops!

So far, so good! Really loving it!
