My son just turned 13 so will get to compete level 9 next year and I'm still clueless. I do know what the kip is but he comes home daily telling me about new skills that I have no idea even what apparatus they are done on. I just nod and say awesome.
About the underwear, my son started wearing them under his stepin this year. We found short compression underwear at a jockey outlet.
