I have been working free hip handstands recently. Every time I try to get far away from the bar to drop my hips I fly off at the bottom of the drop and hit my shins on the bar. I use the method of arching and then piking to basically get my knees to the bar. When I am under the bar I can feel the bar going over the dowel as I peel. I got new grips about 4 months ago and feel pretty comfortable in them. Although, I feel slippery in giants and am wondering if I am not holding the bar hard enough or if my dowel is giving out or if it’s how I put on chalk. I spray water, then rub the chalk block on them and then I rub chalk under my grips. My coach says that he doesn’t know why this is happening and thinks it’s just because I am going from a handstand and going fast but I don’t know how else I can do it and my teammates use the same technique and can do it without peeling.
