I know a lot of coaches use audacity to edit routine music. Unfortunately, that's no longer safe.

It's a shame, but the safest thing would be to switch to a different software.

Reaper (though it has a much steeper learning curve) can do everything audacity can do and more, has an unlimited free trial, and is (to the best of my knowledge) still safe to use.

It being open source, I suspect somebody will come out with an unofficial version that doesn't have this issue. And if you have an old version and don't update, then there are no issues.

But don't get the newest official version of Audacity.

It looks like they've backtracked on this. Still, I'd keep an eye towards finding and learning alternatives.
