Lately I haven’t been staying to watch and don’t know what they have been working on. None of the parent really stay. What questions would you ask during your child’s evaluation meeting with the coach ? My child just finished level 4.

Honestly, I was most concerned that my kid seemed happy at practice and was not being a jerk to others. Also, did the coaches feel that my daughter was generally giving her best effort, listening, applying corrections, etc. Level and skill progress was secondary to this because we always had a good sense of whether she would move up or repeat based on scores/overall readiness. My experience is that the annual evaluation meetings were somewhat underwhelming and simply a confirmation that my observations matched the coaches.

I think it could depend on what they tell you. Agree with above poster that they might provide insight into behavior but it's brief like "she's a hard worker". If it's poor behavior, hopefully you would have already been aware. Otherwise, our evaluations have confirmed level placement, brief overview of hours/practice at new level, and then a list of skills needed (categorized by not yet training, training, competition ready). My daughter tells me all about practice on many days so I have yet to be surprised at an evaluation and we're starting her 5th year on team. I also have a lot less questions at this point than I did in the early years.
