Hi!

My dad played baseball and my mom was a choir kid but my pediatrician actually recommended gymnastics for me. My parents went with it and really enjoyed the ride. They always did their best at being supportive, even when my dad tried to ask how my yurchenko on bars was going. When I later tried pole vaulting, they thought that was scary until they came to my first cross country race when I was in college and saw people throwing up at the finish line. My mom was very concerned I was going to puke on her 🤣

I'm only a toddler mom myself but I've already found myself learning to love what my kids love - I'm a sit on a couch read a book kinda gal with dig in the dirt kids.

I think it's all about following your kid's lead in this sport and letting them know you're their biggest fan. Let the coaches coach and just be mom.
Absolutely!! I just want to learn enough about the sport to have real conversations with her about it. When she comes home and tells me about a skill she’s struggling with (or a new accomplishment!), I want to really know what she’s talking about.

Hi I'm Christine, a mom to 2 gymnasts and I've also recently started trying my hand at coaching at the girls' gym. We have a 7yr old level 3 and a 12 year old level 6, and they are of course super competitive with each other (anyone else struggle with the sibling rivalry when they're in the same sport?). I've joined chalk bucket to connect with other moms, learn more about how to support the girls, and to hopefully stay up to date wit the gymnastics world. We are in TX, have 3 dogs, and love all things sports!

Let's get the conversation going with some simple introductions. Tell us about yourself.

I'll start.

My wife and I are gymnastics coaches. We have 3 children that are all gymnasts. One in the NCAA at the US Air Force Academy (she was a 7 year L10).... one daughter that is a senior in high school that is a L10... and a son that is an 8th grader and a L9. We all enjoy gymnastics.

I started ChalkBucket in 2005 as a place for everyone to learn more about gymnastics!

Please remember... this is a public site... so only post what you want everyone to see.
Hi! I am the mother of an 11 yr old USAG XCEL Gold. My daughter has competed for the past 3 years (AAU Copper, USAG XS, USAG XG) and is currently training XP. We love gymnastics and enjoy watching college gymnastics whenever we have a free weekend to travel and watch them live! My daughter is a HUGE fan of Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Simone Biles, and Shawn Johnson!
