They need to have at least 1 release skill to meet the compositional requirements, but most have at least 2.
They also need to have a clear change of direction (forward or backward) in transitions between bars.

Straight from the FIG COP (2025-2028)
1. Flight element from HB to LB award 0.50
2. Flight element on the same bar award 0.50
3. Different grips (not cast, MT or DMT) award 0.50
4. Non-flight element with min. 360° turn (not MT) award 0.50

Keep in mind a fall is a 1.0 deduction so including a release skill that is inconsistent is not helpful to the gymnasts score. The real score killers under an FIG code are the execution deductions for body shape, height and angle of completion.

Thank you for the info! Very helpful. One more question what about LB to HB? What would be thr points awarded?

LB to HB is not a requirement, but if you go from LB to HB without doing an element (ie. doing a squat on or a sole circle) it's a deduction (I think 0.5) I can't remember.
You get points for the elements you do (the 7 highest valued+dismount)+the special requirements stated about+ connection bonus and dismount bonus, if you have.

Ok. I see. Makes sense! My dd does free hip, bail to handsrand, malony, 360, blind to front giants to piked Jaeger, dismount is currently double pike but practicing double lay dismount. She is trying to make junior elite and I was wondering if this is in line with what's necessary.

That covers the requirements. The hard thing when using the FIG code is that it is an open ended code, so even if you can fulfill de requirements, you could still have a pretty low SV compared to the rest of the field (or not, depending on the level of such field). Right now I guess she would be in the lower end in terms of SV, as she covers her requirements but has mostly C elements with a couple of D ones and (seems like) no CV, so the SV would be in the low 4s I'd say.
Anyway to make it to Jr intl the important thing is he total score across the 4 events so, it'd depend on all that + her execution. A 4.0 could be a good routine if E-score is great or pretty low if execution is low too.

Got it. Ok. She is 12 so still has a little time to get more skills hopefully. Very helpful. Thank you!
