I am trying to search on Google to find out what the requirements are for a level 4 to move to either 5 or 6. I know 5 is optional but what are the requirements for moving to either 5 or 6. Would the gymnast need to get a specific all around score during the season ? Is it even based off of the scores or is it determined by the coach ?

Level 5 isn't really optional, you still need to score out. You need to score a minimum of 34 at level 4 to move to level 5, or a 36 twice at level 4 to skip 5 and go directly to 6. Many gyms have requirements beyond that, but those are the minimum standards from USAG.

Wow that’s tough. Thanks for your response
level 4 is, in my opinion, a really foundational level, especially on bars. They're mastering the kip, kip cast, and learning to swing for the first time. It can be tough, but it is super important to master these basics, because they'll be using them the rest of their careers. An average of an 8.5 on all events isn't asking too much in my opinion because you really do want to see proficiency here in order to build safe progressions.

I believe it takes a 32 in level 5 to score out to level 6, but that involves learning the level 5 choreography. I do like that they made a more direct option to get from 4 to 6 since so many people were scoring out of five.
