Guess I need to stock up on Epsom salt! Do they at least make scented Epsom salt? ;)


Yes. There is a lavender scented Epsom salt that we used the night before competitions last season...helped her relax and go to sleep easier!
 
So what is in Epsom salts that make it work so well?
 
I don't know why it works; but I'm almost positive it is magnesium sulfate.
 
It's the magnesium. Look it up. Magnesium is vital for a large amount of the body's functioning besides also affecting the hormonal system.
 
Magnesium helps to relax muscles and is calming to the nervous system, amongst other things.
 
So DD tried a soak in Epsom Salts this morning since she was REALLY sore from the first summer track/stairs/conditioning they did Monday. She claimed that it has helped especially with her shins and hips. And from reading up on it last night it does seem to be the magnesium that does the trick.
