It's the magnesium. Look it up. Magnesium is vital for a large amount of the body's functioning besides also affecting the hormonal system.
 
Magnesium helps to relax muscles and is calming to the nervous system, amongst other things.
 
So DD tried a soak in Epsom Salts this morning since she was REALLY sore from the first summer track/stairs/conditioning they did Monday. She claimed that it has helped especially with her shins and hips. And from reading up on it last night it does seem to be the magnesium that does the trick.
