Ok with all the privates and extra working out on Bars my DD's hands are now a mess with rip after rip and some of them bleeding (yes she wears grips). Yes she was working very hard. Now that she isn't going to sectionals or states she can ease up a bit on the bars and give her hands a bit of a rest and time to heal.

My question is do you have any suggestions to help protect them and help them heal faster. They just look so awful.

My girls get like that when they go back to gym after the 3 month summer break. They give the callouses a scrub with a pumice and then sleep every night with handy balm and socks on their hands. They heal very quickly and the initial ripping calms down.

Beth does this too. She also puts tea bags on the rips and that helps them heal faster too.

She has a good 5 - 6 rip spots on each hand OWWWWW! she has had rips in the past but with her working those giants so much its just soooooo bad. We have been doing the balm on her hands when she does go to sleep but they are just soo bad. I was hoping there was somthing besides tape she could put on them during practice. the tape just pulls off the skin or scabs.

My dd got a terrible rope burn on her arm. The doctor told us to use Adaptic bandages under the tape so that when we pulled off the tape that the skin wouldn't come off. You could use this under the tape or under the balloons. There are some generic ones out there too that don't stick to skin when you take them off. They come in squares so that you can cut them down to size. Ask your doctor or pharmacist. It was really what kept my dd's skin from coming off and getting infected.
