Hi I have a friend doing a round off on beam she needs a flight skill to compete but she cant do it. She is afraid to land on the beam. Does anyone have drills or suggestions?:fluffy::tiny:

Do it on a line on the floor or a low beam to gain confidence.

If she needs a flight skill and has trouble doing a back handspring, she could learn a front handspring. I do them more safely than a back handspring, so I may have it instead of (or in addition to) a BHS in my level 7 beam routine.

Doing them on a line (or better yet, a low beam) up to a panel mat help because it forces you to get enough height that you don't feel like your feet are slamming into the beam without control. Some like to do them on to a sting mat or some other covering on the beam, if feet hurting is the problem, but I don't really like that myself because I like to be able to see the beam. But it might help get over the initial fear or it hurting to land them.
