I see a lot of coaches posting the same disclaimers in every topic, so I thought I'd save us all a bit of typing.

Things for gymnasts to keep in mind when asking for coaching advice:

1. We can never say for certain what you are doing correctly or incorrectly on a particular skill unless you can show us a video. Without a video, we can only discuss the most common problems and the methods we would use to correct them, but these may not apply to your situation.

2. The best person to ask for coaching advice is always YOUR COACH, the one you work with at practice. They know you better than we do. They know your strengths, your weaknesses, your quirks, your past training, and all the other things that a coach should know in order to give you the best possible advice. Any coaching advice recieved on this board should be used to supplement whatever your coaches are telling you, not to replace it.

All that said, it rarely hurts to get a second opinion, so feel free to ask for coaching advice here whenever you need it. Just keep those two things in mind.

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
