Does anyone have any advice with regards to transitioning a gymnast performing her backaway from a giant rather than a high cast? She’s struggling with confidence in building the cast higher towards a handstand, and when we’ve tried this she freaks out doesn’t release and then we take 10 steps backwards. Any advice would be grateful please.

When you are going to transition, you have to go back to the first drills that you did for the layout when you first coached it, like from swings and now do them from the giant. So maybe it could be back giant to candle stick release and fall onto pit on the back. If she's not able to go from a higher cast though, I'd do that first from the higher cast. Like, high cast+candle+land in the back, when she's confident with that then, turn the layout. Then go to HS and same back to candle-back, then layout, then same thing with giant.
