Parents Typical parent volunteer requirement?

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here and maybe I just have a gross misunderstanding of federal law. But for those of you having these "requirements" for a nonprofit booster club..... my understanding is that these required volunteer hours and mandated membership fees are illegal.

Not all booster clubs are 501(c)3 nonprofits. It would be a violation for those that are.

It is our gym owners, not the booster club, that requires a "donation of time" of working at least one session at each meet that we host (usually 2 per year) so that comes out to a minimum of about 10 hours per year.

I know at DD's gym it is 25 hours or you can buy out for $3K. When she makes team.. I will give the 25hours
