Ok so Friday is free gym day for dd and the coach said there were 26 vaults for level 8 and the girls were challenged to come up with and demo 7 of them on at least the pit vault or tramp vault. There were bonuses for doing them on the real vault. This got me thinking that maybe the values or coach thinking outside the box is off on a national level because you never see such a variety of vaults at the olympics. Didn't they all do Amanar vault? IDK, any thoughts about vault progressions?

There just aren't that many vaults (humanly possible) that can be performed with the expectation of exceeding a score of 16.00. Sure, you can point out examples of handspring double front, Yurchencho double salto, Y1/2 on 5/2 twisting layout off, but the leading edge is a pretty finely ground surface upon which few athletes, and the skills that go with them can stand.

In FIG certain vaults are over-valued. why do a harder vault for the same D score? Add in the fact that the judges do not separate the exceptional from the excellent, and the average from the 'life threatening' and you end up with many gymnasts chucking the same vaults.

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
