HI! My comp season has just started, and some parents were wondering what a good score was! (I'm talking Xcel Silver/Gold and DP LVLS 2-4)
First, I have to say that I do think this can be a controversial topic. Last season, I had teammates who were happy to score in the 8's and teammates who consistently broke 9.7. Obviously, judging is a very opinionated job, so everyone's opinions are probably differentiated.
It obviously depends on the judge and your goals. Some judges are harsher than others. Last year to move into gold, we had to get a 9.3 on each event and a 37.2 AA. Exceptions can be made, but my gym is pretty competitive, and we have had many gymnasts on MyMeetScores top 100 gymnastics scores on multiple events in Silver/Gold. We don't hold our kids back for podium finishes. We don't expect to win, we hope that we will, and if not, then not dwell on it.
