That is interesting . I was wondering if 1:1 would be included under personal training. Our gym in CO cannot open yet, but hoping that they can start that (I think it is even groups up to 4) mid May or so. We will see. Lots of zoom workouts. Most kids don't need spotting yet anyway....they need mostly basics and conditioning!
Our gym is still unable to open but I listened to a town hall that TriCounty Health did and for the counties that are allowed to be open, they are allowed to do "personal training" in groups of 4 (one coach and 3 participants).

In our states new guidelines put out today (Illinois) non essential gatherings of over 50 are not allowed until there is a vaccine or treatment in place. So there will likely be no meet season for the foreseeable future here.

Wow. Hard to imagine if this is the case in some (or most) states that there could be Regionals, Easterns/Westerns or Nationals.

Most states in our region seem to be moving forward with a less restrictive plan.
We usually go to meets in Missouri, Indiana and Iowa- so maybe we will go to more then usual out of state meets. I don’t know how it will be possible to qualify a gymnast to regionals etc without the rules being significantly adjusted.

Does this order mean schools in IL will be closed until there is a vaccine?

Schools are in phase 4- ( the entire state is in phase 2 right now as of May 1st)
Each phase has 14 (and 28) days of gating criteria. So no less than 28 days between phases.
Schools opening and no non essential gatherings of 50 or more are in the same phase 4 ‘step’ which regions could theoretically reach by late June early July.
We are divided into ‘hospital’ regions and regions can move forward when they meet the criteria to do so.
No region can go past step 4 (fully open, gatherings of 50 or more people) until there is herd immunity, a vaccine or a treatment.

That could be a year or more......I hope I am wrong and we develop herd immunity or at least enough that it isn't as deadly, but otherwise..vaccines are a lengthy process, as are tested and reviewed treatments :(

I know. The plan went from flatten the curve, to have room in the hospitals, to wait for a vaccination. I don’t think this is the ‘living with’ the virus that is going to work for years.

I would agree. I am worried about this virus like anyone else, but also know that at some point we have to live with it. Not going to be easy by any stretch.

I am trying to be positive that things will get better, that a treatment is found, and that we can get back to our "new normal" soon :) But I know that is all just me maintaining my mental health for now :)

I just don't understand this approach at all. I don't understand how a totally crippled economy is a reasonable path forward. Waiting until there is a vaccine seems untenable.

Um, not to be negative, but that could literally be FOREVER because there is no guarantee that they will find an effective and safe vaccine/ treatment etc. Yikes!

Very valid point. You are right. We do need to learn to coexist with this virus....and it is going to be strange.

So if your state won’t allow gatherings of 50 or more until there is a vaccine, what kind of impact will that have on your gyms? Do you gyms not usually have more than 50 in the gym at a time?

Agreed. If my state takes this approach I will do whatever I can to move us out of the state.
yes, if our governor went that direction we would be moving. It is just not realistic and frankly IMHO a sign of poor leadership and fear based, knee jerk reacting. (JMO) You have to give people hope and something to work for in the future. With that mandate he has eliminated that for the next two years!

I am trying to say something positive. But frankly? That is INSANE.

It says ‘nonessential’ gatherings of no more than 50 people but schools, summer programs, daycares can open. Also movie theaters etc with limited capacity. It’s very unclear where youth sports fit in.

With enough testing and contact tracing, we might not need to wait for a vaccine. It's just going to be a lot harder to manage contact tracing if the decisions we make in the next four weeks lead to an explosion in the caseload.

I don’t think gyms here will open until June at the earliest. We have already closed schools for the year.
For under 50 gathering, which seems the norm, parents will not be able to be in the building. I’m sure there will be far fewer rec classes because of fear. Most gyms depend on rec revenue rather than team to cover costs.
I did hear about possibly having either judges travel to gyms and score athletes in place, with only coaches and team members present, or having much quicker meets, without parents or awards so all have the same specs during competition.
My personal opinion would be to have meets without the awards ceremonies which are sometimes as long as the meets. I think there are ways to work around the virus. I’m not so concerned about the kids getting it but about them being carriers.
