im a gymnast and i was wondering about when you would start using gymnastics underwear, i have seen it before but i was wondering when and why you would use it. thanks!

Never, there is no real need to. Just one more thing to hang out and bunch up to worry about, as long as your leo fits it shouldn't be a problem. I discourage kids from wearing undies at all under their leos, after all you don't wear undies under your swimsuit do you?

I started wearing it when I got my period. GK makes it great to fit under a leo, but it's REALLY expensive. And now I actually hardly wear it. It tends to give me a really bad wedgie.

i started wearing underwear under my leos when i was in like 5/6th grade, i just don't feel comftorable without it. it's not really a problem because i always wear gk shorts with my leo, and for competitions i just wear nude underwear

I bought my DD dance underwear made of stretchy fabric with firm elastic (no wedgies) and is cut high in the leg so it doesn't poke out from under leos. She wears it under her leos when training. The only time she doesn't wear underwear under her leo is for competitions.

We don't allow underwear under the leotard at any age. Sometimes we let the little ones get away with it, but by the time gymnasts are older they should know better. A leotard that fits properly should have no need for underwear.

Thanks for this...I was wondering about it too. I actually bought DD some pairs at the GK outlet (not so expensive) and she said she liked them but now won't wear them. She's little so I didn't think it mattered but wasn't sure if she should wear it or not. Obviously, I'm new to gymnastics! Now what do I do with the pairs she won't wear? LOL

Pickle's gym requires it at meets to prevent visibility of the butt crack (am I allowed to say that on CB?). Pickle says it feels just like a leo.

YOu clearly can say butt crack, as we can see the words. BUt under no circumstances can you say ***, ****, **** and ****! LOL
