I am somewhat hair challenged too... As in I could never do a crown French braid (I've tried...) For my ODD I followed the tutorial but braided each piece before putting the next elastic in, and braided the while tail before tucking it in all the way around.

I just tried this in my ODDs hair and it worked beautifully! Usually I can't follow along with styling videos but this was easy.

my dd does 2 french braids that go into a single ponytail at the very bottom. it's super cute on her and does not fall out. her first competition, the bun was a total fail. it ended up as a messy bun. luckily her coach was good at putting up hair mid-events.

ps - i am well versed in buns too b/c my oldest does dance and competes. her hair NEVER falls out. but she's not flipping around either. i used the net on my gymmie and the bun maker, ect.... nope. haha

It worked on my YDD too! She's so tender headed and her hair is SO long that I was dubious. Not only did it stay, though, but she asked to keep it in overnight for practice tomorrow too!

Looks like I'll be using this for meets - I cut off 9" of my hair and now it's too short to put into a bun
